Fourth time I saw Seasick Steve live was this Sunday in Perth, and he just gets better and better! It's fucking ridonculous, the man is in his mid sixties, but he has the energy of a 20-year old and we plays the 'guitar' like some sweet combination of Hendrix and Jack White! (The reason why I put guitar in quotation marks is obviously because his instruments barely pass for guitars... There's the cellotaped 6-string, the famous 3-string and the INFAMOUS 1-stringes diddley bo) A lot of this songs are about his life and how he's always been on the road, living hand to mouth and was abused as a child, but unlike Eminem it doesn't sound moaning and self-pitying! You can actually tell from his songs how strong this has made him, and because of this he is SO humble and grateful, and it's just moving to watch him on stage.
Now. I'm gonna post some pretty awesome videos here, most will probably be from live shows cause that's when he's at his best. Oh, and one more thing - after Sunday's show him and his drummer Dan did a signing, and I queued for a bit, bought a vinyl, got a hug and some very touching words in Norwegian! 'Jeg elsker deg, Marti" :D
Ok, so he misspelt my name, but I think I can forgive him that - I didn't breathe for 5 minutes after that :) I love this man with my entire heart!
